Dear Virgil Hawkins Florida Chapter National Bar Association (“VHFCNBA”) Members and Future Members,
It is with deep gratitude and renewed purpose that I greet you as the new President of VHFCNBA.
This year, we marked a powerful milestone: 70 years of legacy, leadership, and resilience. At our anniversary gala, we honored the giants who came before us, celebrated the work being done today, and committed to the work ahead. To our outgoing President Benjamin Garcia and the 2024 Board, thank you for your exceptional service. You have positioned us well for what comes next.
Now, we enter a new chapter with a bold and unifying theme: “Strengthening Our Power Through Unity.”
This is more than a motto. It is our collective call to action. In a moment when racial justice, judicial independence, and inclusive leadership are being challenged, our unity is our power. Our presence is our protest. Our strategy is our strength.
Guided by Four Strategic Pillars, we will:
Assemble – Reconnect as a statewide network and root ourselves in wellness, leadership, and purpose
Align – Build deeper coalitions with affiliate chapters, law students, and allied organizations across Florida
Activate – Invest in our members through business development, mentorship, and economic empowerment
Amplify – Advance a statewide legislative agenda and ensure our voice shapes our future
As your President, I am committed to leading with intention, inclusion, and impact. I welcome your ideas, your involvement, and your energy. Whether you’re a longtime member or just joining us, there is space for you in this movement.
Together, we will deepen our collaboration, preserve the rule of law, invest in the next generation of leaders in law, and amplify our mission.
The next 70 years start now. I look forward to building them with you.
In Unity and Service,
Brendalyn V.A. Edwards
2025-2026 President
Virgil Hawkins Florida Chapter National Bar Association
